General Summary:
USAID Firms Project plans to assist 20 SMEs through extensive workforce trainings, certifications and software upgrades to spearhead changes on the supply side. The knitted garments program aims at enhancing the efficiency and productivity of garment SMEs and to make them progressive so that they can compete in the world market. Hence to achieve this, one of the main components is to automate and integrate the information management systems in respective factories that will help to enhance their in-house productivity, leading to more efficient processes.
Objective of the Consultancy:
The objective of this consultancy is to facilitate selected garment SMEs in successful deployment and implementation of ERP software in their factory by monitoring the services of the selected software house. This phase of the project requires extensive IT expertise. In order to support the program, the USAID Firms Project seeks the services of a short term IT consultant which will act as a liaison between the beneficiaries, software deployment company and USAID Firms Project.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant is required to perform the following tasks.
Visit the selected garment factories daily or as per the deployment plan to monitor the implementation of ERP deployment in all the factories.
Efficiently monitor the execution of project plans provided by the software house(s), throughout the successive stages of project development at all the selected beneficiariesâ sites.
Ensure that timelines are being followed by the software houses and suggest corrective measures, if there are any delays.
Provide daily and weekly update(s) to the project technical lead on the progress of selected garment SMEs by coordinating with the ERP vendor company on a format provided by technical lead.
Ensure timely, high quality completion of all relevant reporting requirements.
Ensure that customization needs of the beneficiaries are met by the vendor. This should be done in coordination with the beneficiaries under intimation to the technical lead.
Ensure that the training is being conducted properly by the software house(s) and report if any gaps are observed in the training.
Ensure that the developed work is in sync with the already operational modules and running properly with the actual data input.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in IT, computer sciences, business engineering or related field is required; a Masterâs degree in such fields is preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in ERP implementation system.
Experience of garment manufacturing environment and PMP is a plus.
Ability to perform successfully as a member of multiple project-related teams.
Applicant should have PHP, Java and .Net skills/ experience
Work experience in the private sector and in a development project environment is preferred, with work experience in the former being more preferable.
Duty Station: The duty station of the consultant will be Karachi at the USAID Firms Project Karachi office, with frequent visits to the selected factories based in industrial areas of Karachi. Duration of the Assignment:
This assignment is planned to take place on or around March 31, 2014 and end on or around September 30, 2014, for a total of 165 days LOE.
